Acting Governor Kadafur Commissions Sahad Store in Maiduguri, Reaffirms Support for Private Investment
The Acting Governor of Borno State, Alhaji (Dr) Umar Usman Kadafur, has commissioned a new branch of Sahad Store along Damboa Road, Maiduguri, describing the project as a major boost to the state’s economic recovery and transformation. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Kadafur said the establishment of the store goes beyond business expansion, noting that it represents resilience, innovation and renewed investor confidence in Borno State.

The Acting Governor of Borno State, Alhaji (Dr) Umar Usman Kadafur, has commissioned a new branch of Sahad Store along Damboa Road, Maiduguri, describing the project as a major boost to the state’s economic recovery and transformation.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Kadafur said the establishment of the store goes beyond business expansion, noting that it represents resilience, innovation and renewed investor confidence in Borno State.
The Acting Governor commended the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sahad Stores, Alhaji Ibrahim Mijinyawa, for his vision and entrepreneurial drive, describing the investment as a strong vote of confidence in the improving peace, stability and economic prospects of the state.
Dr. Kadafur said the new outlet would create employment opportunities, improve access to quality goods at competitive prices and enhance the overall shopping experience for residents.
He added that the investment would stimulate commercial activities and support small and medium-scale enterprises, in line with the state government’s drive towards sustainable economic growth.
The Acting Governor reaffirmed the commitment of the Borno State Government to providing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, assuring investors of continued government support.
“As a government, we remain committed to expanding opportunities, promoting enterprise and uplifting our communities. We will continue to support investors who demonstrate confidence in Borno State,” he said.
In his remarks, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sahad Stores, Alhaji Ibrahim Mijinyawa, commended Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for his efforts in restoring peace and stability in the state, saying the improved security situation encouraged the company to invest in Maiduguri.
He assured that the investment was aimed at serving the people of Borno State and called on other investors to take advantage of the prevailing peace to establish businesses in the state.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industry, Hon. Ibrahim Hala Hassan, said the successful establishment of the store was a result of deliberate policies by the state government and his ministry to provide a conducive business environment for investors.
He assured that the ministry would continue to support investors to ensure their businesses flourish in the state.
The event was attended by the Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr. Mohammed Bulama, commissioners, special advisers, senior government officials, business leaders and members of the public.
