Rising Costs Force ATWAP Borno to Increase Sachet Water Price
The Association of Table Water Producers of Nigeria (ATWAP), Borno State Chapter, has increased the price of sachet water from ₦200 to ₦250 per bag, citing rising production costs. The decision was announced during the association’s general meeting held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Tijjani Bolori Government Day Secondary School Hall in Kushari, Maiduguri. Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the association, Waziri Isa, who is also the Director of Qatar Table Water, explained that the price adjustment became necessary due to the high cost of production materials. He emphasized that the increase was not intentional but unavoidable, noting that prices in Maiduguri remain relatively moderate compared to other areas.

The decision was announced during the association’s general meeting held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Tijjani Bolori Government Day Secondary School Hall in Kushari, Maiduguri.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the association, Alhaji Waziri Isa, who is also the Director of Qatar Table Water, explained that the price adjustment became necessary due to the high cost of production materials. He emphasized that the increase was not intentional but unavoidable, noting that prices in Maiduguri remain relatively moderate compared to other areas.
The chairman also urged members to remain punctual and committed to the activities and programmes of the association to ensure its continued growth and effectiveness.
In his remarks, an elder of the association, Alhaji Auwalu of Habib Water, called for unity among members, stressing the need to maintain standardization and ensure the quality of sachet water production across the state.
The Vice Chairman of the association, Rawa Gana Bukar Gaji of Shaban Water, highlighted the importance of the forum, describing it as a platform for collaboration, information sharing, and addressing common challenges within the industry.
Also contributing, the Provost of the association noted that unity is key to business success, adding that progress can only be achieved when members work together toward common goals.
The Secretary of the association called on members to support government policies on environmental sanitation, particularly the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (RRR) system, aimed at improving waste management practices.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer, Usman Ali Mishelia, Director of Bam Table Water members to be law-abiding and remain committed to the objectives of the association. He emphasized that collective support from members is essential for the association’s success and called for strict adherence to agreed price controls.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by members to strengthen unity, improve product quality, and support initiatives that will enhance the growth and sustainability of the table water business in Borno State.
