The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Ishaq Oloyede, has commended Babagana Umara Zulum for constructing a state-of-the-art zonal office and Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre for the Board in Maiduguri.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the projects located along the Maiduguri–Dikwa Road, Prof. Oloyede said the zonal office would serve Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States.
He explained that the capacity of the computers in the CBT centre would enable candidates in Borno State to complete their JAMB registration within two days.
According to him, the facilities, when completed, will include a Professional Registration Centre (PRC), where candidates can register and proceed directly to the examination hall when ready to sit for their exams.
Prof. Oloyede described the project as one of the best multi-centre CBT facilities in the country, noting that the centre would house 275 computers in one section and another 275 in the second section. This means that up to 500 candidates can sit for examinations simultaneously.
He added that the facility would enable JAMB to clear about 2,000 candidates within two days.
The JAMB Registrar expressed appreciation to Governor Zulum for his commitment to education, describing it as the type of leadership Nigeria needs.
In his remarks before the flag-off ceremony, Governor Zulum said his administration decided to contribute its quota to the development of education in the state, adding that with JAMB’s transition to digital operations, Borno must keep pace.
He further disclosed that a CBT centre would be established in each of the three senatorial zones of the state.
Governor Zulum revealed that the zonal office is estimated to cost ₦667 million, while the CBT centre will cost ₦330 million, assuring that both projects would be completed within record time.
