El-Kanemi Warriors on Sunday defeated Plateau United 1–0 to maintain their impressive run in the Nigeria Professional Football League and move closer to securing a continental ticket. The keenly contested encounter was played at the El-Kanemi Warriors Main Bowl along Shehu Laminu Way, Maiduguri. Daddy Abdurahman struck the winning goal in the 81st minute to hand the hosts maximum points. With the victory, El-Kanemi Warriors recorded their third consecutive clean sheet and have now lost just once in their last seven league matches a 3–2 defeat to Bendel Insurance in Week 21.

In a post-match interview, Plateau United Technical Adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote, described the loss as painful, given his team’s strong away record. He said the technical crew would address the lapses that led to the setback, noting that it was only a minor hitch.
On his part, El-Kanemi Warriors Technical Adviser, Kabiru Suleiman Dogo, praised his players for their determination and dedicated the victory to the fans and the people of Borno State. He also appealed for continued prayers and support for the team’s sustained success.
El-Kanemi Warriors will next travel to Kano to face Kano Pillars in their Week 27 fixture at the Sani Abacha Stadium this weekend.
