Borno RRS Commander Redeployed to Ibadan as IGP Moves to Tackle Rising Crime

The Inspector-General of Police has redeployed the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Borno State, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Babalola Abioye, to Ibadan to support efforts aimed at addressing rising crime trends in the city.

The Inspector-General of Police has redeployed the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Borno State, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Babalola Abioye, to Ibadan to support efforts aimed at addressing rising crime trends in the city.

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, disclosed the development during the decoration ceremony of newly promoted RRS officers held at the squad's headquarters in Maiduguri.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Saina Buba, Governor Zulum commended security agencies for their contributions to maintaining relative peace in Maiduguri and surrounding communities.

He described ACP Abioye's impact on security operations in Borno as remarkable, noting that his redeployment was a reflection of the successes recorded by security agencies in the state.

Hon. Buba also praised the collaborative efforts of the police, military, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and local vigilante groups in combating insurgency, drug abuse, and other criminal activities.

According to him, the Inspector-General's decision to deploy ACP Abioye to Ibadan demonstrates confidence in his experience and operational capacity.

In his remarks, ACP Abioye congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to view their promotion as a call to greater responsibility, discipline, and dedication to duty.

He emphasized that sustaining peace requires the collective efforts of security agencies, community leaders, and residents, while reaffirming the commitment of the RRS to consolidating gains made against criminal activities in the state.

A total of 61 officers were decorated from the rank of Constable to Corporal during the ceremony, which also featured awards and recognition for individuals and organizations that have contributed to security efforts in Borno State.
