Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have repelled coordinated terrorist attacks in Limankara and Kukawa LGA of Borno State, killing scores of insurgents in the process.

The attacks, which were launched in the early hours of Friday, were successfully thwarted by troops who engaged the terrorists in fierce gun battles.

The military said the failed assaults reflect the immense pressure being mounted on terrorist enclaves, logistics corridors, and leadership structures across the theatre of operations.

In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, during a weekly operational update, the troops neutralized a total of 25 fighters comprising Boko Haram and Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) elements across various operational locations within the Area of Responsibility (AoR).

The statement noted that through sustained offensive operations and targeted decapitation efforts, Operation HADIN KAI continues to deny terrorists freedom of action, forcing them into chaotic withdrawals under heavy losses.

During the engagements, one gallant soldier paid the supreme price, while some combat enablers were destroyed by rocket fire. However, wounded personnel were promptly evacuated by Nigerian Army Aviation helicopters and are reported to be in stable condition.

In furtherance of ongoing offensive operations, troops of Sector 2 under Operation DESERT SANITY V, acting on weeks of intelligence supported by satellite imagery and ISR air platforms, conducted a precision operation in the early hours of February 22, 2026, around Lamusheri Village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The location was identified as a key terrorist launch pad and logistics hub. Despite coming under fire while advancing, troops—working in synergy with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force—successfully outflanked the terrorists and cut off their withdrawal routes, consolidating gains in the area.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive pressure until all terrorist elements are neutralized and lasting peace is restored to the North East.
