International Women’s Day: NAWOJ Celebrates Resilience of Borno Women, Calls for Greater Support
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Borno Chapter, has joined the global community in celebrating the unwavering strength, resilience, and determination of women in Borno State and across Nigeria. In a statement jointly issued by the Chairperson and Secretary of the association, Fati Mustapha Zanna and Elizabeth J. Ameh, NAWOJ noted that women in Borno have endured immense challenges, including over 15 years of insurgency that has threatened human rights and devastated communities.

The Borno woman has faced immense challenges, including over 15 years of insurgency, which has posed significant dangers to human rights and devastated communities. Despite this, she remains steadfast, defending and protecting her family and community.
In a Statement jointly issued by the Chairman and Secretary of the Association Fati Mustapha Zanna and Elizabeth j. Ameh, urged for echoing louder voices of Women than ever, calling for recognition, inclusivity, and protection.
The 2026 International Women's Day theme, "Give to Gain," emphasizes the importance of investing in women to create a stronger, more equitable society.
The NAWOJ Borno Chapter urges the government at all levels to consider the plight of women in the state and provide them with models of support that address their unique needs.
