The Nigeria Police Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Training School, Maiduguri, in partnership with the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), has successfully concluded a landmark seven-month specialised training programme in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The programme, which ran from 28 July 2025 to 27 February 2026, represents a strategic milestone in the NPF EOD-CBRN Command’s efforts to strengthen counter–Improvised Explosive Device (IED) capabilities and reduce explosive threats across the North-East region.

This was disclosed in a press release signed and issued to journalists by ASP Kenneth Nuhum Sasa.

According to him, participants in the intensive training were drawn from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) across various North-East states.

He explained that the curriculum, designed to meet global standards, combined rigorous theoretical instruction with practical field exercises. All trainees were trained in line with the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS), with emphasis on the detection, identification, mitigation, and safe disposal of Explosive Remnants of War (ERWs) and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

The graduation ceremony featured live operational demonstrations, including advanced IED disposal procedures, strategic sand-modelling exercises, and precision use of the F-3 MineLab detector.

A major highlight of the event was the certification of fifteen (15) elite officers who successfully completed the advanced Improvised Explosive Ordnance Disposal (IEOD) course.

The ceremony was attended by senior security officials and representatives of international partners organizations
