GOC 7 Division Seeks Royal Blessings, Strengthens Security Collaboration in Borno

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General Solomon Diwa, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army's commitment to strengthening partnerships with traditional institutions and security agencies in the fight against insurgency and other security challenges in the North East.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General Solomon Diwa, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army's commitment to strengthening partnerships with traditional institutions and security agencies in the fight against insurgency and other security challenges in the North East.

Brigadier General Diwa stated this during separate courtesy visits to the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin, and the Borno State Command of the Department of State Services in Maiduguri.

Speaking at the palace, the GOC said the visit was to pay homage and seek royal blessings following his assumption of duty as the 16th GOC of 7 Division Nigerian Army. He appreciated the warm reception accorded him and emphasized the critical role of traditional rulers in promoting peace and security at the grassroots level.

In his remarks, the Shehu of Borno commended the Nigerian Army for its sacrifices and resilience in the fight against insurgency, noting that military operations have significantly improved security and restored normalcy in many parts of Borno State. He also praised the cordial relationship between the military and residents of the state.

The monarch, alongside the 16 District Heads of the Borno Emirate, offered prayers for Brigadier General Diwa, wishing him a successful and impactful tenure.

The GOC also visited the Borno State Command of the Department of State Services, where he was received by the State Director of Security, Adamu Ahmed Umar.

During the visit, Brigadier General Diwa underscored the importance of intelligence gathering and information sharing in addressing emerging security threats, assuring the DSS of the Nigerian Army's continued support and collaboration.

The State Director of Security congratulated the GOC on his appointment and commended the Nigerian Army's sustained efforts in combating insurgency across the North East. He highlighted the DSS's contributions to counter-terrorism operations through intelligence gathering, surveillance, profiling of terrorist kingpins, and intelligence sharing.

The visits featured interactive sessions, exchange of souvenirs, and group photographs, further reinforcing collaboration among the military, traditional institutions, and security agencies towards sustaining peace, security, and stability in Borno State and the North East region
