Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved a special training fund for 56 medical doctors currently undergoing residency training under the sponsorship of the state government.

The approval was granted on Thursday during an interactive meeting with the resident doctors at the Government House, Maiduguri.

The meeting, convened at the governor’s instance, was aimed at assessing the progress of their training and identifying challenges affecting their performance and smooth progression at their various primary places of assignment.

In addition to approving the training fund, Governor Zulum also authorised the immediate implementation of promotional benefits for all resident doctors due for career advancement.

He directed that the promotions be effected without delay and that all outstanding arrears be paid to the beneficiaries from the effective dates of their promotions.

The governor further instructed the Borno State Hospital Management Board to organise a similar interactive session with other medical doctors in the state who are not currently undergoing residency training.
